Sholay released in Pakistan in 2D and 3D after 40 years
Ramesh Sippy’s Hindi action classical film Sholay released in Karachi Pakistan after 40 years of India release. G. P. Sippy’s production by starring lead actor Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Hema Malini, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bhaduri and Amjad Khan finally hit the Pakistani Theaters and release on 2D and 3D screens. Nadeen Mandviwalla and Geo film release the film across several cinemas in Pakistan.
Movie set to the box office of Pakistan on 17th April. Opening day was disappointing and movie marked slow note at the box office. Movie didn’t do well on the Friday release. Amjad Rasheed, chairman of IMGC Global Entertainment, a lead distributor of foreign films in Pakistan agreed that the “”response of the sholay has been very poor with an average occupancy of only 15 percent”. Emraan Hashmi’s Mr. X is the competitor of the Old release Sholay and Interestingly Furious 7 running successfully even in Third week, he added.
Even though film released in 2D and 3D screens, due to the box office competition it failed to attract the audience. If the film fails on the first day Friday, then it won’t get boost on the weekend. 1975’s Indian Independence Day release 30 million Rs. budget film Sholay collected huge box office earnings on 150 million at box office in India. But failed at the Pakistan.
Sholay has been seen by the people many times and repeatedly in the country. Sholay celebrated 60 golden jubilees and over 100 silver jubilees across India. Film created the box office history. Previously it was offense to watch the Indian films on VCRs in Pakistan and later its been revoked when Indian film started released in Pakistan. whether movie got huge public rush or not, it will mark the impression to viewers with High quality Bollywood film.
